The American Dream

Synopsis: Corina is an immigrant from Guatemala who has smuggled her way across the border guided by Efren, her coyote aka human smuggler. Instead of finding freedom, she finds herself imprisoned by Efren, who now holds her inside a safe house, awaiting the final Western Union payment from her husband. Set in the last hour and twenty minutes, Corina begs for her freedom but letting her go is against everything Efren stands for.

Synopsis: Juan has proposed to Francesca, but she’s unsure of his true commitment. Francesca decides to use a grad school film exercise as an excuse to meet his exes and find out everything there is know about her prospective fiancé. In doing so, she uses the audiences as a sounding board to gain insight.

What is the fine line between reaching greatness and losing your sanity before life truly imitates art?
A Love Letter To The Bronx
Juan Ramirez, Jr. was awarded the Bronx Council on the Arts’ 2021 New Work grant to write an original epic play titled Love Letter To The Bronx. The play focuses on Bronx characters, themes and settings. In partnership with Art Defined, the play was presented virtually on December 17th, 2021.
The playwright holds the copyright, as all copyright laws must be followed in terms of the title and name to appear properly on all productions.
Below is the script for nonprofit, not-for-profit and for profit organizations to use license-free under educational, training, free for public readings and fundraising within the borough of The Bronx. Any development for full productions within The Bronx must reach out to the playwright and any productions outside The Bronx must prepare to purchase licensing rights.
